I do enjoy the local wineries that aren’t far from where I live. One of these wineries would be Bogle. I especially enjoy their Bogle Petite Sirah.
Bogle Petite Sirah
Bogle Winery is located in Clarksburg California. The winery has remained in the family where 3 out of the 4 of the current Bogle descendants manage the winery, producing wine and growing wine grapes thus carrying on the family tradition. Today, Bogle Vineyards has been ranked as the country’s 14th-largest winery. The winery’s focus has been to produce quality wines at inexpensive prices. That has proved to be a very successful strategy.
Clarksburg California, where Bogle is located was first settled in the 1850’s. It was cleared and developed solely for agricultural purposes. It is located across the Sacramento River a bit south of Sacramento California. Clarksburg is unique among many of the small California towns in that many of the descendants of the families who initially settled the area still live there to this day. This along with the thriving wine industry has allowed Clarksburg to maintain it’s wonderful small-town charm.
Bogle Winery is very much involved in sustainable environmental practices. They have been tracking their greenhouse emissions since 2008. Bogle has just recently implemented solar technology in their overall operations furthering their desire to help improve the environment. The coolest thing to me is they are one of the few wineries that will pay a bonus to winegrower who are enrolled in the Certified Green guidelines. This is another very good reason for me to buy their wines.
This is what the winemaker had to say about this Bogle Petite Sirah:
“As our “heritage” varietal, it is important we craft a wine that reflects this unique varietal each and every vintage. The 2011 is no exception!
Showcasing trademark characteristics, the wine is impressively inky, dark and luscious in the glass. Supple fruits, including wild blackberry and Oregon blueberry, are distinct both in the aromatics and on first sip. Concentrated and rich, savory notes of toasty oak combine with mocha and hints of salted caramel. The finish, firm and full bodied, lingers and lasts as only Petite Sirah can.”
You can find this Bogle Petite Sirah on wine.com, bevmo.com totalwine.com, Trader Joe’s or CostPlus World Market. It is an excellent wine to serve with a nice cheese board.
I really enjoyed this Petite Sirah and would recommend that you give it a try. It goes especially well with a very nice cheese board. Let me know if you try this tasty selection. I would love to hear your opinion.
Time for a glass…
