Berry Smoothie Recipe

by Susan P. Cooper · on Jan 23, 2014 · 39

There are times we just run out of time to make a proper breakfast.  That seems to happen to me more often than not.  When that happens, I fall back on an old stand, my berry smoothie recipe.  It is super easy, delicious and healthy.  It’s a little tart to the taste, not too sweet, which most of my family and friends prefer.

This berry smoothie recipe originally came from Martha Stewart, Everyday Food.  I can’t say if it’s the same because I have a tendency to tweak recipes :-).  The fact is I make this berry smoothie recipe so often that I’ve memorized it.

Ingredients: (2 servings)

  • 1 medium banana (cut into chunks)
  • 1 cup of plain yogurt (or my Homemade Yogurt)
  • 1 cup of frozen mixed berries (do not unthaw)
  • Optional (for the ones who like it a bit sweeter) – 1 tablespoon of honey or to taste

Directions:

Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.  Pour into a tall glass, toss a few berries on top for garnish, insert a straw and indulge.

Notes: For those of you who prefer it a little sweeter add in a little honey.  You can also use different frozen fruits of your choices, such as peaches or just strawberries if you’re looking for something other then mixed berries.

This berry smoothie recipe is meant for two servings, but there are times I drink the whole thing.  The calories are low so got for it.

If you need a little something to go with it, make some toast, spread with Nutella.  Now that is a breakfast of champions and the best part, kids love the combination.  Enjoy.

Time to eat…
