I had a moment that triggered a memory and threw me back to my very first year as a teacher and one of my students, a first grader by the name of Bren. His simple, innocuous question, “Is the bus here yet?” ultimately taught me a great lesson that I’ve used all of my life.
I was very little living on my grandparents’ farm with Mom and Dad. We were living there for a short while until our new home was ready for us to move to. Because of my size I wasn’t allowed beyond the large wrap-around front porch. The porch was my playground that consisted of a swing, lots of toys, my teddy bear and an occasional roaming chicken.
