Not An Ordinary Market: Nugget Markets

by Susan P. Cooper · on May 22, 2014 · 39

Nugget Markets, findingourwaynow.comOne of the many questions I’m asked is where do I shop for the items I use in my recipes.  I go to many places, but my all time favorite place is Nugget Markets.

It has been very hectic in our household of late, and I’m gearing up to get back to my normal routine.  That means, among other things, recipe planning and testing.  That said, I thought it would be fun to tell you a bit about my favorite grocery store.

Nugget Markets

Nugget Markets is family-owned and has been in business since 1926. There is a grocery store, or “market” if you prefer, just down the street from where I live. It is my favorite market, my primary go-to place to buy groceries. I am not a person who gets a big kick out of going to grocery stores, quite the contrary, but this one is definitely an exception.

Nugget Markets, findingourwaynow.comUnfortunately, they only have 10 locations and are just in the Sacramento /Northern California area. That’s lucky for me when I am in the area, but alas I do miss the store when I find myself somewhere else. Nugget Markets’ claim to fame is its high-quality products, low prices and stores that are downright gorgeous.

The employees are happy and, as a result, provide the best customer service one could ask for, the kind you wish for when you can’t find something when you REALLY need it.

They believe in supporting the local farmer and other local businesses in the region and do an amazing job of that while keeping their prices low.

Nugget Markets, findingourwaynow.com Nugget Markets, findingourwaynow.comThe funny thing is, when a person visits one of their stores for the first time they are struck by how beautiful it is. Because of that they often think it’s upscale and that the prices will match. They couldn’t be more wrong. If you ever have the good fortune of going to a Nugget Market, check out their price comparison board to see just how they stack up with the other grocery stores in the area. That often helps to dispel that belief pretty darn quickly.

Nugget Markets, findingourwaynow.comThe fact that it’s a fun and beautiful place to go, with a staff that is always there to help, doesn’t have to mean it’s expensive. In this case, you get it all – fun, beauty, high quality and low prices. What is there not to like about that?

So whenever you’re in the Sacramento area and need some groceries, go to a Nugget Market for a really great experience.

Do you have a favorite grocery store or market?  What makes it so special for you?

Time to shop for a new recipe or two…
