It’s summertime – time for cookouts, campfires and homemade s’mores. Who doesn’t love these ooey gooey treats?
So there we were with a large family gathering, a ton of food, lots of homemade marshmallows, homemade graham crackers and Ghirardelli squares of chocolate. Of course we had to have my homemade s’mores. As you would expect, they were a HUGE hit. The fact that they were made from homemade marshmallows and graham crackers with Ghirardelli 60% dark chocolate squares brought these simple delights to WHOLE new level of deliciousness.
I thought it would be fun to share our homemade s’mores, and just maybe, they would inspire you to make your own homemade marshmallows and graham crackers. 😀
Homemade S’mores
Ingredients:
Tools
- ¼ sheet pan
- Silpat (or an aluminum foil sheet)
Directions: As if you really need this… LOL, but please bear with me.
Line the ¼ sheet pan with Silpat or aluminum foil. Heat up the broiler to the oven (or toaster oven, if you desire). Place a few homemade graham crackers on a sheet pan lined with Silpat. Place a chocolate square on top of each homemade graham cracker and then top that with a homemade marshmallow. Carefully place the loaded sheet pan close to the broiler and watch until the marshmallows just start to brown. Remove the sheet pan from the oven and top each roasted homemade marshmallow with a homemade graham cracker, pressing down until the marshmallow oozes out a bit. Serve immediately.
Notes: Do Not attempt to roast these homemade marshmallows over a fire. You’ll lose them because they are way too delicate and airy. Roasting them in the oven is the only way to go.
To say we loved these s’mores would be a very large understatement. It’s now official; we are spoiled for life when it comes to making s’mores. It will be the homemade s’mores from now on. They are that good.
A really fun thing to do is to package the ingredients in a cellophane bag with bits of ribbon to handout at a party or BBQ for each guest to take home to make their own homemade s’mores. This will make you an instant hero.
Time to eat lots and lots of these homemade s’mores… LOL.
