The Witching Hour: #Story (Poem)

by Susan P. Cooper · on Oct 25, 2015 · 54

The Witching Hour, findingourwaynow.comThis time of year offers so much to us.  It heralds the beginning of the coming holiday season and the end of another year.

I love the fall leaves, the cool crisp nights, and then there is The Witching Hour.  What is that?  Let me tell you my tale.

“The Witching Hour”

by Susan Cooper

The Witching Hour, findingourwaynow.com

There’s a chill in the air.
The wind blows gently.
The leaves rustle and move.
The night is dark, and the moon is full.

A dog barks in the distance.
A cat yowls to herald the coming night.
Lights go on at every house.
It’s almost the witching hour.

Then they appear,
All manner of ghosts, witches, and goblins.
I hear their screams and shrill laugher.

The door bell rings.
Do I answer?  Do I dare?
What will await me if I do?

The doorbell persists.
I take a chance.
My eyes are wide, and a reframe rings out,
“TRICK or TREAT,” it’s Halloween night.

It’s hard not to get into all the fun when this time of year rolls around. The colors, the sounds and smells from the kitchen are infectious. With that said I would like to offer you and yours the best of  Halloweens and all the fun that it can bring. The Witching Hour, findingourwaynow.com
