Crispy Chocolate Bars: #Recipe

by Susan P. Cooper · on Jan 22, 2015 · 20

Crispy Chocolate Bars, findingourwaynow.comWhat are Crispy Chocolate Bars? Let me explain. After the holidays, I found myself with a ton of leftover bits and pieces. I couldn’t just throw them away! So I decided to make something out of some of my leftovers. These crispy chocolate bars were just a few of the things I decided to make. This recipe really is easy and they can make a fun gift from your kitchen.

With Valentine’s Day approaching, it may be something you might want to make as a gift for someone special or for yourself.

Crispy Chocolate Bars

Ingredients: Makes 24 to 36 squares

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
  • ½ cup crunchy peanut butter
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla
  • ⅛ teaspoon of Kosher salt
  • 5 cups Corn Flakes type cereal
  • Butter

Directions:

Lightly grease an 8-inch marshmallow or square baking pan with butter. Combine the chocolate chips, butterscotch chips and peanut butter in a double boiler. Stir over very low heat until completed melted and smooth, add the salt and vanilla mixing to combine. Remove from the heat and add Corn Flakes cereal, stirring until the cereal is evenly coated. Press the mixture firmly and uniformly into the prepared pan. Let cool until set and then cut into 1 to 1-½ inch squares. Store in an airtight container.

Notes: Don’t rush the melting of the chocolate chips to avoid scorching. It is important to make sure you press the mixture firmly into the prepared pan, otherwise it will crumble when you try to cut the finished product into squares. If this happens, not to worry, it makes a GREAT ice cream topping.

Crispy Chocolate Bars, findingourwaynow.comThese were a much bigger hit than I ever would have expected and it came from some of my leftover surplus from the past holidays. How cool is that! So if you have some of these bits and pieces laying around, have some fun by giving this a go.

If you happen to have any of these delights left over, package them up and give them away, as a fun and delightful gift for just about anyone.

Time to eat…
