I will always remember my first experience with a glass of BV Coastal Cabernet Sauvignon. It was in the dead of winter, and I was in Milwaukee on location consulting with a business owner along with my financial assistant.
It was a tedious job, working through all the sales organizational challenges and delving into their financials to uncover any issues. It had been a grueling couple of days; my assistant and I needed a serious break. We ask the hotel concierge for a good restaurant in the local area. The restaurant was just what we needed. The restaurant’s sommelier suggested a Cabernet Sauvignon to have with our meal. The suggested wine was a BV Coastal Cabernet Sauvignon. It was divine. It is still one of my favorite wines today.
BV Coastal Cabernet Sauvignon
Beaulieu Vineyard, producer of BV Coastal, has been producing wine in the beautiful Napa Valley region since 1904. They have had a heritage of growing grapes in some of the best locations in Napa Valley. Beaulieu Vineyard has been recognized for their knowledge of grapevine cloning, trellising styles, and various viticultural techniques. All of this has resulted in the realization of very high quality wines.
Their very first vineyard was located in Rutherford, CA. where you will find their wine tasting room today.

Napa Valley is a great travel destination. It has amazing views with picturesque rolling hills planted with vineyards everywhere you look. Aside from the amazing wine tasting available, you can dine at many world-class restaurants and bistros, such as the French Laundry, Ad Hoc, Mustards, Wine Spectator Restaurant and Bistro Jeanty, to name just a few. You can’t help but fall in love with some of the quaint bed & breakfasts, hotels or spa resorts located in this region. Many are within walking distance of the quintessential Napa style villages such as St. Helena, Yountville, Rutherford and Calistoga. It’s a great place to spend a weekend and take in all the local area has to offer.
This is what the winemaker has to say about their BV Coastal Cabernet Sauvignon:
“Tasting Notes: Our 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals enticing aromas and lush flavors of blackberry and black cherry, with hints of mocha and toasted oak. Ripe, smooth tannins frame the velvety flavors, while vanilla spice from oak aging lingers on the fruity finish. Pull the cork on this easy-to-enjoy wine when you barbecue steaks, shish kabobs or gourmet hamburgers. Or pour our Cab with pizza or hearty pastas, soups or stews.
Vineyard Notes: To achieve layers of flavors in our Cabernet Sauvignon, we selected grapes from both the Central Coast and the North Coast American Viticulture Areas (AVAs) in California. We harvested 40 percent from the Red Hills sub appellation of the Lake County AVA, which borders northern Napa County, the source for another six percent of the grapes. We blended these North Coast grapes with fruit from Central Coast vineyards, 30% from Monterey County AVA and 21% from Paso Robles AVA. The diverse soils and climates of these regions contributed to the layered fruit expression, excellent balance and structure of the wine.”

This particular Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine that we go back to again and again. It is a wine we always try to have on hand for just about any occasion. It is simply that good. Enjoy.
