Bend In The Road: #Story – #Musing

by Susan P. Cooper · on Jun 17, 2014 · 73

Life changes. In fact, life is change in and of itself. We move about in our daily lives without a thought of the minute changes that are occurring every second of every day.

Bend In The Road, findingourwaynow.comA Bend In The Road

Then we’re hit with a bend in the road or a curve ball, if you will, that throws us for a loop. We find ourselves in a state of chaos with a feeling of being out of control. That’s me right now. When this happens, a favorite quote comes to mind: “A bend in the road is not the end of the road unless we fail to make the turn.”

I didn’t see it coming. It was just there, that bend in the road. Will I make the turn or will I not? That was the question. So what is this curve in the road? It all started with the consolidation of two households. Then came the after affects of adjustment and change. My schedule has been thrown to the wind. For one that needs a schedule this was, and continues to be, very hard. So what am I to do? I decided I needed to evaluate my current circumstances and make some adjustments. But I digress.

Bend In The Road, findingourwaynow.comTo me the word “life” is another word for change. We’re faced with big ones, little ones, and some we simply don’t notice but they’re still there. The key is to learn to make the needed adaptations to ensure we make that bend in the road and keep on trucking. It’s the big changes that are the scariest. They take serious thought and sometimes an instant reaction, but in the end we must find a way to make the necessary adjustments to take that bend in the road. If we don’t, we find ourselves stuck in a place we don’t want to be, with a feeling of being lost and miserable.

Bend In The Road, findingourwaynow.comI have chosen to make some adjustments in my offline and online world. To do that, I will be need some space. This means I will not be as available as I have been in the past. I may miss a few posts every now and then. I may not always be there on a comment or two and I may be slow to respond to some requests. But know this, once I’ve figured it all out I will be back. I may be doing things differently, I hope better than before.

Bend In The Road, findingourwaynow.comHave you faced an unexpected bend in the road? What was your course of action? How did the need to change your direction make you feel?

Life’s journey continues…
