Flowers For Mother: #Prose #Poem

by Susan P. Cooper · on May 3, 2012 · 33

Spring came early this year for Northern California. The spring flowers I love so much did the same. When the spring flowers are in full bloom, I think of my Mom. My mother passed several years ago. While she was alive, I would always send her flowers or a gift on that special day.

Even though she’s no longer with us, these are flowers I am sending to my mother, in spirit, with love or any mother who’s still who has passed on.

Flowers For Mother
On
Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is a time for warm thoughts,
and fond memories.

It’s a time for expressing feelings,
and words that often go unspoken.

A time for letting those special people
in our lives know they are loved.

A time to share how much they are appreciated,
now, forever and always.

Now it’s time to share how much I miss you, Mom!

My mom was a pretty special woman.  She loved her family.  She was a working mom with much success under her belt. As a career woman, the time for family was scarce. Now I understand, through her example and how she instilled me that I had choices. The example she set demonstrated that I wasn’t bound to convention, that I could choose to do whatever I desired in my life. At that time, I didn’t understand what a gift that was. I do now. I am eternally grateful for all she taught me in her quiet and unassuming way.

I wish all the great mom’s out there the very best of Mother’s Days. May your day be filled with joy, that your family is near you and that you receive the very best gift of all, the gift of time with your loved ones.

Life’s journey continues…
