Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio: #Wine

by Susan P. Cooper · on Apr 19, 2015 · 12

Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio, findingourwaynow.comSpring arrived much too early in Northern California this year. It was another year of little rain and a drought that seems without end. Regardless, life goes on and we spent the weekend setting up our patio. It’s a place we greatly enjoy on warm spring and summer nights. After all the work was complete, we took a break to enjoy a glass of wine, Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio to be exact.

It’s funny how we overlook something we’ve enjoyed for many years. When I was sitting on my patio with my glass of wine, I thought how I had always had a bottle of this wine on hand for just this kind of occasion. Why I hadn’t written about it was a mystery. So here I am,  showcasing this classic Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio.

Santa Margherita Wines are exclusively marketed and imported by Terlato Wines. Anthony Terlato was the brainchild behind Terlato Wines becoming the #1 importer of premium Italian wines. It all started in the 1970s when he came upon the idea that wine lovers outside of Italy were ready to experience high-end Italian white wines. Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio was the wine he chose as the vehicle to do that. In time, Tony became known as “the father of Pinot Grigio.” Some have said he was “one of the most accomplished wine personalities on the planet.” He has been credited with pioneering the import of wines from many wine regions, varietals and brands from around the world. And it all started with a Pinot Grigio varietal as one of the most successful.

Terlato Wines, a fourth generation vintner, also markets a portfolio of over 60 brands from a stable of world-class wine producers. The Terlato family now markets one out of every 10 bottles of fine wines sold in the US. Many of their investments and partnerships are in many of the world’s recognized wine regions. These regions include Napa Valley; Sonoma County; Santa Barbara County; Victoria, Australia; Rhône Valley, France; and Montalcino, Italy.

This is what the winemaker has to say about their Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio:

“Crafted in the Northern Italian region of Alto Adige, this crisp, elegant wine is a true classic. Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio is perfect for entertaining and pairs beautifully with a wide variety of dishes. Fresh, clean bouquet and a crisp, sophisticated flavor brightened with hints of citrus. Perfect with light pasta, seafood, and chicken dishes.”

You can find this wine at bevmo.com, wine.com, totalwine.com and just about any good wine purveyor.

There are times we just need a bit of a nudge to enjoy life. Regardless of the circumstances, it’s important to remember to stop and enjoy life’s simple pleasures, such as a warm spring day, and a glass of this classic Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio.

Time for a glass…
