I love the smell of sweet potato fries cooking and often can’t wait for them to come out of the oven!!

    • Me too Mina, I agree waiting for them to be done and cooled enough to eat is the hard part. ?

  • I ADORE sweet potato fries and this recipe couldn’t be easier. Going into my recipe file. Thanks, Susan!

    • Hi Jeannette, I with you on that one. I can’t wait the see how you like them when you give them a try. ?

  • I’ve made sweet potato fries in the oven like this and they’re delicious. I’ve also done this with regular potatoes. I’ve not added a touch of cayenne though and will try that next time.

    • Hi Donna. You can do this with any kind pf potato. The purple ones are fun and look kind of cool at Halloween. The cayenne give them just a bit of spark. It something the whole family likes and would miss if I left it out. ?

  • Will have to try these for sure. I get these on occasion when eating out and love them.

    • Yes you do, Jeri… LOL. The best part is you don’t have to go out to have them and they are a whole lot better for you. ?

  • Safariontheblog

I love Oven Sweet Potato fries. I make them all the time. The family can’t get enough of it x

    • We do too. You can’t ask for and easier snack or side dish. We actually like them better then the ones we get out. ?

  • Those look very good.

  • Jon Jefferson

We do this with regular potatoes all the time. you can really cut down on the calories from oil this way.

    • I do too Jon, and they are just as good. Cutting down the calories is what I’m all about these days… LOL. ?

  • Jacqueline Gum

Have done this with white potatoes for a long time! And I love sweet potatoes, so I;m not sure why I never tried it! But NOW I will!

    • Oh, then you must give these a try. I know you will love just as much Jacquie. ?

  • Rose M Griffith

Thanks for a good idea to eat sweet potatoes. I like them, but limit my potato indulgence because of the carbs. This sounds like a yummy treat and way better than deep frying!

    • You’re very welcome Rose. I’m trying to do that too, thus this recipe when I just can’t help myself. ?

  • Pat Ruppel

Hmmm, this looks good, Susan. I don’t make sweet potatoes much except for Thanksgiving but hubby just happened to pick one up the other day at the market having a taste for it. This looks like a perfect way to prepare it. Thank You!

    • If he is into Sweet potatoes, then I know he will love these. When you make these, let me know how he liked them. ?

      • Pat Ruppel

They turned out good, Susan, and we both liked them. I couldn’t believe how easy it was to make skipping all the hot oil, deep frying stuff. I think I had a little too much oil on them this go around, as I used the full recipe for 2 potatoes and I only had 1 (a little soggy). Will have to remember to make adjustments next time. Great recipe — thank you for sharing. 🙂

        • Hi Pat. Cool! Yikes, that is a lot of oil for just one large potato. Use this as a measure – tablespoons (or less) per potato. ?

          • Pat Ruppel

Thanks, Susan, will do that next time. 🙂

          • You’re welcome. I think you’ll really like them with the right amount of oil. ?

  • I also have an ambivalent attitude toward my fryer. Produces great results but messy and I hate to use it indoors. Recipe looks good. Assume would work as well with white potatoes.

    • LOL, I knew others had to feel the same Ken. Yes indeed, this works just as well with white potatoes. Enjoy. ?

  • Debra Yearwood

I had to laugh at the line about not feeling guilty when you eat these, it was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the recipe. I look forward to trying this out.

    • LOL, I can almost hear your laugh. We do enjoy this recipe on more levels than one…?. Have fun and enjoy. ?

  • Catarina Alexon

What a great idea, Susan. Love sweet potatoes and definitely will try your recipe.

    • Thanks so much Catarina. It is a fun and easy recipe for sure, especially if you love sweet potatoes. ?

  • I never thought to make fries in Oven. My daughter loves the fries and at times I feel sad about the oil that goes along. Now I will make this… I hope she will love the taste and it can be a great problem solver for me. Thank you.

    • They are pretty good, Anna. I do hope your daughter likes them as much as we do. ?

  • This is great! I’ve been trying to train myself to like sweet potatoes, but so far the only way I can stand them is as fries. (Probably not the best way to reap their benefits.) I’ll give these a try for a healthier alternative.

    • This is my favorite way to make them Meredith. My Mom used to fry a thin slice of sweet potatoes in a frying pan when we were kids, and we scarf them up. This is in homage to my mom. ?

  • hey susan; that does sound easy. and it sounds like it would be healthy too. will send it over to my gastric support group and let you know what they say. and if they tell me i can’t have them, I’ll keep it to myself. 😉 i remember how bummed i was a few years ago when we read all those articles about how bad popcorn was for you after thinking it was good as long as it was air popped or microwaved without butter. 🙂 reminds me my first job on the midway was in my grandma’s cotton candy stand boxing the popcorn and putting the butter on it. yep we had an honest to goodness hot butter machine back then. thanks for triggering a memory even if it didn’t start out that way. take care, max

    • I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you to Max. These are really good and not nearly as high in calories as a lot of fries. 🙂

  • HomeJobsbyMOM

I’ve never been a sweet potato fan but I bet my grandfather would LOVE these 🙂
