This one is going on my list and it’s almost time for a Total Wine run. Interesting that they are so committed to sustainable environmental practices. This isn’t always so common where profit is involved! Thanks for the heads up

    • It is a very nice wine for sure Jacqueline. Their environmental practices are such a good reason to support them with a purchase of two. 🙂

  • Cheryl Therrien

I always give my business to those who care for the environment. KUDOS to them for those practices!

    • Me too Cheryl. This winery does an amazingly good of spreading the word about the importance of environmental consciousness. 🙂

  • I do believe I would LOVE this wine! Interesting story about the community and winery. Thx for sharing, Susan.

    • I do Doreen, Along with the great taste, it is a great winery to support. 🙂

  • Greg Narayan

Simple, brilliant, I want it. Really growing fond of your review article style, Susan.

( also, shamefully sipping some boxed wine now :// )

    • Thanks Greg. You will enjoy it for sure. It please me to no end that you are enjoying my reviews. :-)))

  • Jeri Walker-Bickett

I recently tried their Cabernet really liked it. I’ve been meaning to pick up a Petite Sirah for ages…

    • I like their Cab equally as well. So I know you’d love this Petit Sirah. Enjoy. 🙂

  • I love Bogle Chardonnay and have even been to Clarksville! As a Southern California girl, we try to get up north to wine country once a year. Red wine gives me an awful headache, even though the description of this one sounds yummy! Maybe I’ll give it a whirl. Thanks for the thorough review!

    • That is very cool Laurie. What other wineries have you visited while in Clarksburg? The headache from red wine may be caused by the sulfur that is used in the process. Look for unsulfured wine and I think that problem my go away. 🙂

      • I can’t remember the names…. but they were really nice!

        • They are really nice wineries around Bogle for sure. 🙂

  • Jon Jefferson

I love the local places. The closest winery to me is St. Julien, but I should make a trip to Trverse City region at some point (roughly 5 hours ).

    • Me too Jon, Wow that is a long way. I’m pretty lucky, many of the wineries are within a few minutes from where I live; at the very most an hour and a half. 🙂

  • I love a good petite Sirah, so thanks for this recommendation. Fantastic being back in the the land of wine. And being near the stores you list. Happy New Year Susan.

    • Happy New Year to you too A.K. You are in a perfect spot to find and enjoy some fabulous wines. 🙂

  • Donna Janke

Interesting story about the winery and its environmental conscience. I am going to look for a bottle of Bogle Petite Sirah and give it a try. I’m due for another visit to Trader Joe’s.

    • Hi Donna, I love the history behind how some of the local wineries got started so sharing that info is fun for me. If you give this a try, et me know what you think. 🙂

      • Donna Janke

Hi Susan. I tried the wine tonight. Very nice. I will buy it again. Thanks for telling us about it.

        • That is very cool Donna, Happy dance!!! I do enjoy Bogle because of it’s consistency in quality. :-)))

  • Krystyna Lagowski

Although I’m not much of a wine drinker, I really enjoyed reading about this winery. How wonderful that it’s not only a family owned business, but also encourages sustainability in so many ways. Sometimes I read wine reviews just to savour the poetic descriptions of the various wines – it’s an art form all to itself. I’ll keep an eye out for these wines, next time I’m at my local liquor store!

    • Hi Krystyna, It’s fun for me to do the research about the different wineries. I agree, the descriptions are carefully (in words) choreographed to entice us to buy a bottle or two. I think they succeed, don’t you? 🙂

  • Hi Susan,

What a great review you have given on Bogle Winery. I love a good glass of wine to accompany my dinner. It’s funny, because during the winter I like a glass of Red wine, but come Summer, I can’t even stand looking at it.

It is white wine all the way for me. I will check this winery out! I used to live by the Finger Lake Region in New York. The wine tastings were wonderful.

    -Donna

    • Hi Donna, I hear you. Red or white I can drink a good wine any time of year… LOL. I do generally enjoy a crisp white wine on a hot summer day over a red. 🙂

  • Debra Yearwood

I’ve never had the Bogle Petite Sirah and unfortunately for me they don’t carry it here in Ontario. We do have the Cabernet Sauvignon which is delicious. I did not know the winery was so progressive. It’s nice when you can like everything about a product. 🙂

    • That’s too bad Debra, because I know you would enjoy this Petite Sirah. For me, it gives me great joy knowing that whenever I buy a bottle of Bogle I help support their environmental efforts. 🙂
